Sugar price goes upto Rs80/kg in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Sugar crisis continues here and the commodity is being black-marketed for upto Rs80/kg.

Due to the shortage of the essential food items, small shopkeepers are forced to procure the commodity in black-market later to sell at inflated rates.

On the other hand sugar is being supplied to utility stores less than demanded forcing the consumer to go back home in vain despite standing for hours in long queues.

Meanwhile, according to Director Food, NWFP, Abdul Ghafoor Baig, Khazana Sugar Mill is providing 1600 gunnysacks of the commodity to Peshawar dealers on daily basis against a demand of 2000-ton/day being main reason of price inflation.
