Four dead in Karachi train collision

KARACHI: At least four persons have died and scores other were critically injured including children, as a passenger train by the name Allama Iqbal Express (AIE) has run into a goods’ train near Jumma Goath here in Landhi locality of Karachi on Tuesday morning, Geo news quoted Edhi sources as saying.

According to preliminary reports, AIE passenger train, being on its way from interior Sindh, met a head-on collision with a goods’ train coming from the front, leaving as many as four persons dead and dozen others wounded.

Meanwhile, four among wounded persons reportedly died during accident, Edhi sources said. Also, women and children were among killed and wounded persons, sources added.

People, on their own, are partaking in rescue efforts as several passengers are still caught in train’s damaged compartments, meanwhile, Edhi and Chiipa welfare ambulances have rushed as many as 25 injured persons to hospital, sources concluded.

Emergency has been imposed in JPMC hospital, hospital sources said.
