Army to work in sync with govt for Swat rehab: Kayani


SWAT: Army Chief General Ashfaqu Pervaiz Kayani Saturday said the Pak Army will stay every moment with the people of Swat.

Today, the Army Chief arrived in Swat where he attended a children ceremony in Saidu Sharif. He said the military put an end to the terrorists by launching a successful operation in Swat and the Pak Army rendered great sacrifices for the purposes.

Swat is absolutely peaceful now and the military is responsible for the security of the people here, he said adding the Army will work in concert with the government in rehabilitation process in Swat.

The COAS thanked the Swat people on cordial welcome accorded to him. He also met the area veterans and schoolchildren.

Earlier when the Army Chief arrived at Circuit House, Incharge of Operation Rah-e-Raast Maj Gen Ashfaque Nadeem briefed him. Corps Commander of Peshawar Masud Aslam was also present in the briefing.

On this occasion, curfew was clamped on Mingora-Saidu Sharif.
